Volunteers Canteen on Grand Mesa

Canteening on Grand MesaOn February 12, 2007 Jack Miller, Jane Smith, Sharon Roper and Judy Miller responded to Grand Mesa in the ERV (Emergency Response Vehicle) to serve hamburgers, chili and hot drinks to the search and rescue workers who were searching for a lost 15-year-old snowmobiler. Red Cross calls this service "canteening."

Fortunately, the boy was found - cold, but very much alive and generally okay.

The Red Cross wishes to thank Wendy's who donated the chili and Denny's who donated the coffee. The hamburgers were provided by the Red Cross, who were well received. Our canteening services were covered on the evening news that night.
