Donating Blood We all expect blood to be there for us and for our family when the need arises. But barely a fraction of those who can give do. Yet sooner or later, virtually all of us will face a time of great vulnerability in which we will need blood.
Blood is needed for emergencies and for people who have cancer, blood disorders, sickle cell, anemia and other illnesses. Some people need regular blood transfusions to live.
Imagine if giving blood was part of everyone's life. Something you did on a regular basis, like eating at your favorite restaurant. What kind of difference would that make? For nearly 5 million people who receive blood transfusions every year, your donation can make the difference between life and death.
The Regional Blood Center for our area is located at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. Blood donations can be made at the Advanced Medicine Pavilion,
Second Floor, Entrance 22, 750 Wellington Avenue. The phone number is 970-244-2555.
Donation hours:
St. Mary's also has a bloodmobile. Check the bloodmobile page on their web site or call for a schedule of when the bloodmobile will visit your neighborhood.
